Surviving the Family Photo Hour: A Post-Ceremony Guide
The formalities are done, what now?
We’ve signed the registry, I’ve pronounced you married, and your guests are cheering as you walk back down the aisle. You did it! Now… it’s time for family photos.
Without a plan, the family photo session can feel like herding cats. Here is how to keep it stress-free:
Appoint your people.
Make a List: Write down the exact combinations you want (e.g., Couple + Bride’s Parents, Couple + All Siblings). Give this list to your photographer beforehand.
Appoint a “Wrangler”: Choose a loud, bossy, and highly organized friend or family member from both sides of the family. Their only job is to round up Auntie Susan from the bar when it’s her turn for a photo.
Tell People in Advance: If someone is required for a family photo, tell them before the wedding day so they don’t wander off to the bathroom as soon as the ceremony ends!
