Vow Writing 101: How to Be Funny Without Being Cringey
How to Be Funny Without Being Cringey:
Personal vows are the absolute highlight of a modern ceremony. But staring at a blank piece of paper can be incredibly intimidating. Most couples I meet want their vows to be funny, but they are terrified of sounding like they are performing a bad stand-up comedy routine.
The secret? The 80/20 Rule.
Aim for 80% genuine, heartfelt emotion, and 20% lighthearted humor.
How to structure it:
The Hook: Start with a funny or sweet memory of when you first met.
The “Why”: Tell them exactly what you love about them (their patience, their terrible cooking, their kindness).
The Promises: This is the core. Promise the big things (“I promise to support your dreams”) and the little things (“I promise to always share my fries”).
The Forever: Bring it back to the romance to finish strong.
And remember, if you book my “Full Works” package, I provide a complete vow-writing guide and will personally review your vows to make sure they hit all the right notes!
